Ministry to the Needy

Following Jesus’ Command

Ministry to the Needy (Previously known as St. Vincent de Paul Society)

Helping the needy is very important to the Lord, because everybody is a child of God and God loves all his children, especially the “poor”.  God is really pleased when we help one another, and there is no doubt that He blesses those who do share from what they have with his children who are needy.

The food pantry is in need of the following foods items:•

RICE, PASTA, VEGETABLE OIL, BEANS (DRIED OR CANNED), EGGS, CANNED JUICES, BOXED MACARONI AND CHEESE, NOODLES,• CEREAL, CANNED VEGETABLES.

These items are the food staples most requested by people in need.  We appreciate your compassion and generous love for those in trouble. Every week when you go food shopping please remember those who cant buy food, either because they have lost their job or who are struggling to survive. We are grateful for the one or two items you will purchase for the needy.

The food will be distributed every other week on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon at the Convent Basement of Divine Mercy Parish.

If you or someone you know is in need of food, come visit our Food Bank.  It is open on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month, from 10:00am to 12 noon.  We are still in need of food donations.  If you are not able to donate food, please remember that all Poor Box collections go towards the purchase of food for our pantry.  The Poor Box is located at the entrance of our Church.

The committee works actively in our parish, collecting donated food at the parish as well as purchasing food from the local Food Pantry in Atlantic City. The Committee members prepare food bags for distribution every 2 and and 4th Saturday of each month. Special baskets are prepared at Thanksgiving and distributed. The Committee also contributes to charitable organizations. Your food donations and monetary contributions are specifically used to assist families in need in the parish and in the community.

Thank you for your generosity which enables us to help those in need.
